Green Apple Licorice: Not Your Mom's Candy Anymore
Thirty years ago, green apple licorice was never even heard of. The only flavors that were around were the classic black licorice, cherry licorice and soon after that, strawberry licorice. Who would have thought that we would have the kinds of flavors of licorice that we do today?
Candy licorice has been around since the early 20th century. Back then it was only what we know as black licorice. The candy was sweetened with corn starch and licorice juice. Licorice had not been used in any form of candy before, which is why it became so popular as a candy treat. A few decades later, cherry licorice was conceived when candy makers decided to add some natural cherry flavoring to the mixture. Nowadays, even cherry licorice is a thing of the past as new candy flavors such as green apple, blue raspberry, cinnamon, and watermelon take center stage.
There are several different flavors of gourmet licorice available, especially when you buy it online. Green apple licorice is just the beginning of the many flavors you can try. I heard eating black licorice helps start labor because it contains glycyrrhizic acid?
Is this true? and how much would you have to eat? i'm not trying to start my labor as of now i'm letting it run its course but i'm just really curious if anyone knows if this is true or not
you have to get the actual black licorice from a health food store, not the candy aisle though-that is just sugar and artificial flavor. I heard it can be very dangerous.
