Ayurveda has promise for Autism Child
Autistic children have difficulties with social interaction, display problems with verbal and nonverbal communication, and exhibit repetitive behaviors or narrow, obsessive interests. There is no established cure for autism. Therapies and behavioral interventions are designed to remedy specific symptoms and can bring about substantial improvement. The ideal treatment plan coordinates therapies and interventions that target the core symptoms of autism: impaired social interaction, problems with verbal and nonverbal communication, and obsessive or repetitive routines and interests.
Panch karma and Yogic supportive procedures like Shiroabhayanaga Nasya and Pranayama are effective along with Pitta dosha balancing herbal medicines such as Brahmi. Bacopa is a great neurotonic, immuno-modulator, adaptogen, tranquilizing, memory and learning enhancing, cerebral activator, anti-ulcer, antispasmodic, anti-asthmatic ayurvedic herb. Other benefits are anti-allergic, free radicals scavenging effect and as herbal supplement in epilepsy, anxiety, depression and autism.
We successfully use special ayurvedic Ghee with good results at Sanjivani Wellness Bhilai. Ghee goes in and pulls out lipid soluble chemicals from the brain and nerve tissue, thus it detoxes the brain, nourishes the brain cells and repairs damage from the toxins that have caused the autism. ¼ cup of yoghurt to ¾ cups of water blended with cumin, coriander and ginger. This freshly prepared butter milk is good drink. Diluted fresh pomegranate juice should be taken daily if possible. All refined processed food (this includes white sugar, chips, chocolates, white flour, soft drinks and most anything you would find in a modern supermarket shelf), leftovers, old cheeses, cold foods and drinks, microwaved food and soya products should be avoided.
Treatment Agenda at Sanjivani:
Morning medicated milk/ honey Brahmi Ext + milk or Pomegranate Juice.
Prrocessed Kalmegha & Aloe vera to regulate liver anti-ama functions
Mamsayadi Rasayana ( Jatamansi, Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Vach and Shankhpushpi) to be taken with milk.
Research is being done:
(i) Investigations are in progress to establish the neurotransmitter serotonin connections between neurons in hopes of discovering why these connections are impaired in autism.
(ii) Clinical studies are testing the effectiveness of a Panch Karma & Yoga program that combines parent training and ayurvedic supplements to reduce the disruptive behavior of children with autism.

OMG?!?!?!?!?!EXPIRED CHEESE DIP??help!?
for the past few days iv been eating this cheese dip, and it has jalapeno pieces in it and it was really good, then the last time i had it was a couple days ago and it just had a wierd taste to it.then just right now, i opened it to try some more, and it had mold on the inside where i thought the jalapenos were!!!!! and i looked at the exp date and it said 27APR2007BY2008, wtf does that mean??!!!!??? the mold was just so disgusting..omg, can something happen to me because of that??because of eating so much of it so late??ugh...
Have some vitamin C. :p
The expiry sounds like it was made in 27 april 2007, and it should be eaten by 2008.. although that's not really specific. Weird.
I've accidentally eaten moldy bread a few times with no bad result.
Mold produces various chemicals as a by product, some of which are dangerous IN LARGE QUANTITY, but something tells me you stopped eating when you saw the mold. Since it's a chemical and not a bacteria, it can't get worse, so if you feel fine, you're probably fine. Some mold doesn't even produce harmful byproducts, for example Cumenbert(sp) is covered with thick "mold" when you buy it.
