Many Uses of Wrought Iron to Your Homes

You probably knew wrought iron as a material used to build the Eiffel Tower. Nevertheless, wrought irons are also good industrial materials to build certain parts of your homes. The material made a comeback after being famous in the early centuries. It gives your home a medieval and classic look.

Wrought iron has less carbon content compared to steel. Its texture can resemble wood when bent or etched. Wrought iron is also used as a material to make horse shoes and railways. However, wrought iron can also be used in home designs and redecorations. There are two common types of wrought iron – puddle iron and charcoal iron.

Wrought irons are popular for providing French fashion to many simple homes. It simply gives an accent and identity to house designs. It is also known to provide a more striking impression of your doors, stairs, and fences. Many wrought iron manufacturers came up with many uses of the industrial material. They can be used as curtain rods, wall hooks, bed poles, wine racks, candle holders, patio tables, and chairs.

Wrought iron can be combined with wood to produce exterior doors. Known for its malleable, durable, and tough qualities, wrought iron can aid home security. Many wood and wrought iron doors are thick and heavy duty. And because of its classy look, wrought iron and wood doors can go along with any home decoration or theme. Wrought iron door manufacturers also offer custom designs for homeowners which allows a more elegant look for their homes. On the other hand, wrought iron stairs are also becoming popular.

Many homeowners would employ iron stair balusters or spiral iron stairs on their homes because of its durability. Because wrought iron can be modified, it adds more personality and theme on many staircase designs. Wrought iron stairs also provide homeowners with space. Because it is sleek, wrought iron stairs will only occupy small space. They are also easy to maintain and are rust-resistant.

Aside from being utilized on iron stairs, wrought iron can also be used for railings and fences. Many homes implement iron railings on their windows to provide more protection from thieves. On the other hand, iron fences are also effective to keep your backyard secured. Aside from high level of protection, iron railings and fences also add to the appeal of homes.

Baker's rack on front porch?!?

I have a wrought iron baker's rack that no longer resides in my kitchen. Not sure why, but I thought it might look nice on my front porch since it is the same kind of wrought iron as my hand rails (it's a front "stoop"...not a covered porch).

Is this a complete eye sore (in your mind)? I'm starting to wonder if it was a bad idea.

It probably depends on what you put on it. Maybe with plants, some of them small and hanging, and seashells or large decorative rocks and an unusual Welcome sign...

I don't know, overall, I'm thinking bad idea. You could use it as a modified potting bench in your back yard or on your patio.
