Peaceful Environment And Healthy Atmosphere
DWARIKA RESIDENCY SHELAPANI SHIMLA HILLS !
By day, the changing landscape and rhythmic pace of the HORSE through the beautiful
and tranquil PINE JUNGLE will replace the tensions of our modern world with peaceful environment and healthy atmosphere .
By night, the SHELAPANI 'S sky is a truly magical experience. Our treks are with local guides with expert knowledge and good linguistic skills and provide a balance of adventure and safety.
You can sleep under the stars, or for those that prefer to be undercover, a canvas tent will be available each night.
Driving to shelapani, you will be experincing the up and down mountain roads with river side effect and beautiful bungalow also for an overnight stay, with 1.5 km drive in 4x4 vehicle.
You will walk and ride through the middle of the Pine forest from one great dune to another and see the Himalayan mountain covered with snow and Pabber kund named Chanshal. You'll pass Deodars and Oaks, see the cold springs, and enjoy the apple orchard.
Cooking is by no means a woman’s responsibility.
Shelapani men are excellent cooks, and the food is organic and natural, freshly prepared on an open fire in the traditional way. You will eat fresh fruit, salads tossed in oil and a variety of dishes made from meat, vegetables, pasta and spices, and of course, sidcous. IndianBread (Chappati) is freshly made in the embers of the fire each day, and traditional tea and coffee are also available. Special dietary requirements can be catered for on request. Fresh flowing spring water will be freely available.
Our treks are of moderate difficulty, allowing the combination of walking and Horse riding as you choose.
These treks can be made more strenuous for the more experienced and those into extreme sports.
Trips can alternatively be completed in 4x4 vehicles; prices available on request.
How this holiday makes a difference!
Our aim is to make the beauty and peace of the Pine jungle accessible to others, offer flexibility to the traveller and, provide a balance of adventure and safety. Our policy is to support the local economy.
We bring work to an area where employment opportunities are limited and ensures that the financial benefit remains within the local community. All guides / Horse drivers are local men – their expert knowledge of the region essential give the nature of Shelapanian treks. We use local, family run services, such as hotel and in built resturant . All products and provisions are purchased from local providers.
We are not office based and do not generate paper in any form. We have no waste products to recycle.
The jungle environment places no restrictions on water usage. We carry an adequate (but finite) supply of regular use items . Living the luxurious lifestyle – every article has multiple functions, there is no waste and limited natural resources such as wood are used with care.
We neither tolerate, nor leave, litter.
About the Author
Shelapani is the most rural and many whould say the most beautiful region in shimla .If you appreciate getting off the beaten path, you’ll love the scenic himalayan ranges of this area .The rolling hills- pine forest, apple orchard and pabber valley make shelapani a naturalist’s delight.
The ideal place for your back-to- nature vacation. This area also holds some historical and cultural surprises
Cuttings from a fruit tree..genetically identical........short term effects/long-term effects...Read!!!?
OK, so I really have no idea on this...
I know it is possible to take cuttings from a fruit tree that displays the largest and healthiest fruit in the orchard and plant these cuttings to grow new trees, genetically identical to the tree from which the original cuttings were taken. This could result in an orchard full of superior fruit-producing trees, each maximizing quality and quantity of yield.
However,
What are the short-term AND long-term effects of this approach to this methodology.
THANKS!...
Short term, you get bigger fruit. Or better fruit, more disease and temperature resistant. Everybody is happy. Long term effects are a decrease in bio-diversity. Similar charactoristics mean similar genetic traits. If they are all the same, lets say all oranges are similar in the future (they will not be obviously because different kinds grow in different places), and a disease comes along, affects the genes or, more commonly, just the traits, that are very similar, Oranges die and people die of lack of vitamin C (Unlikely, we could probably find a new source, and use it instead) but you see the point. People are scared of a lack of biodiversity, which is a good thing, but so are big fruit. I would tell you not to worry about it as long as varied varieties exist.
