Installing Flooring Tiles

Flooring Tile brings a texture, richness and color to a room that Linoleum has yet to truly mimic. Floor tiles can be installed in any room; they are more frequently encountered in bathrooms and kitchens. I particularly like the entrance, where they serve as transition between the outside large wooden floor or carpet rooms. They make for easy cleaning and are impervious to water.

Tile Types

Flooring Tiles are two types of Stoneware and porcelain. Glazed holds the most high traffic areas and porcelain works well in bathrooms. Porcelain is typically more expensive, so consider your budget and size of the area you want to tile. Tiles are in many shapes and sizes. For flooring, however, I suggest using larger tiles up to 12 "x 12".

Sub --

For proper installation of the base or sub-foundation is critical. In general, it consists of "1" against-plated. Tile over linoleum or existing tile is also possible, as it is strong. Preparing the site

Before actually installing the tile, it is preferable to place them in the room to see how it will look. Installing the Tile

Again, make sure the area is free of dirt and dust. Then, apply glue or mastic Flooring floor, starting with the center, where two lines cross perpendicularly reference. Apply enough material to cover 6-10 square feet, in the absence of reductions are needed. If cuts are required limit the amount of sealant on the application of 2-4 square feet. Once the glue has been applied, begin installing tile work from the center outwards. The larger tiles, you must back butter them. Basically, apply a thin layer of mastic to the back of the front to the laying of tiles on the floor. This will ensure a good connection.

As you near the walls or edges of cabinets, tubs and toilets, you need to reduce some of the tiles. I strongly recommend the use of a Wet-Saw. A Wet-Saw will allow you to make very accurate cuts, both large and small. You can also save money because you will have much less waste of tiles with bad cuts or broken tiles. Wet-saws are not expensive and once you do you see your finished product will certainly be installing more tile. Wet-saws can also be rented as a cheaper alternative.

When applying Tiles, you want to use Lugs May Lugs are effectively spacers that come in different thicknesses. I do not usually more than one space between the tiles. Employing Spacers will ensure uniformity in the spacing of your tile.

Grouting

After the tile has been completely installed, allow it to sit for 24-48 hours before applying grout and walking on it. Grout comes in different colors and is very easy to install. Simply mix the grout with water or a liaison officer and apply with a rubber trowel. Run the trowel on a bias when switching on the corners of tiles.

Once the grout has been applied, immediately wipe the tile of excess cement, using a damp sponge and a bucket of water. Wait 30 minutes and again wipe the tiles at all grout residue. Wait another 60 minutes and repeat. If grout is left on the tiles to dry, you will have a lot of elbow work scraping it off.

Layout of tile project 31 inches by 12 inches?

I removed an old bathroom sink and vanity (old), it was the old cast iron with a backplate and sink.
The old back plate was large and now the backsplash of the new vanity is short. know where the problem is. I have a area that is 31 wide" (same width as the new vanity top) x 12" tall. I want to put tile up but am running into problem with the layout as in if i used 6" tile (real size of 5 7/8") to but only come up with 30 inch how do i get that extra inch? so things line up .... or what would you do with tile?
i was thinking of changing the grout size to 1/4" inside of 1/8"

For changing spacer you need 3/8" spacer cause difference is 1,5/8" .
To have correct measurement you need to set 5 tiles in a flat area ,reason of that is ,there's very small nu-ch in two corner of the tiles which it give 1/16" space between the tiles .After you set the tiles measure it one more time ,difference till 31" will be divided by 5 and this will be determinate the spacer size .
